Adding 지요 to a verb stem expresses a polite request.
저쪽으로 가서 손을 씻으시지요.
Why don’t you go over there and wash your hands?
할아버지 여기로 앉으시지요
Grandfather, please sit down here.
Note// I know the grammar structure +지요/죠 which is used as a question, like here, but this is the first time I’ve come across this definition from “한국어 회화 2”. I can’t find anymore references to it on the net, if anyone knows of any can you let me know? ^^
