V+네요 ~ Using the verb ending

The verb ending -네요 can be used to show you are impressed or  surprised, the construction simply involves adding -네요 to the verb stem.

정말 춥네요! It’s really cold!

맛있네요! Delicious!

저기 있네요! There it is!

Hi, I stumbled onto your site and I really like it. I hope you can answer a question I have regarding this grammar point. I don’t really understand how to use this. If I were to say 보고싶네요 would that mean I didn’t expect I would miss someone, but surprisingly I do, or does this mean the other did not expect I would miss them, but I actually do.

I’ve seen this used very often, but sometimes it doesn’t make sense in context for the speaker to be surprised. Anyway, I hope you can help me out..

      Hi there~~
Unfortunately that’s way out of my depth… Definitely don’t want to tell you the wrong thing! Best bet would be asking a native speaker or perhaps on a site like italki or Lang-8. 🙂

I think it is going to be 너를 그립게 돼요/해요 in this case. Because someone is far away from you so you miss him/her, or you’re just missing someone (without knowing the reason). But this is my opinion and I’m not native speaker so it could be wrong ^^”
